What does Location mean in an MLA Citation?

Last Updated: Jan 31, 2019 Views: 224 0 0 Topics: MLA

Location simply refers to where a citation can be found, not necessarily an actual location.

For print, location will typically stand for page number, or where in the book the information can be found.

For web, location will stand for a URL or DOI.

Unusual media may need a place for location, however. For example, when citing an art piece, stating the location the piece is displayed at is necessary. For lectures or other live events, the venue and city the lecture was given in represents location.
